As the cultural center of Burleson, Old Town is home to numerous cultural events featuring music, arts and history; restaurants with food from all over the globe; a variety of one-of-a-kind local shops and unique and trendy boutiques; as well as an array of entertainment options, from art to axe throwing. The city has invested heavily to support the re-development of the district, which has included addition of a town plaza, expanded public parking, sidewalks and beautification.  Mayor Vera Calvin Plaza, a TIF/4B funded investment encompassing one acre, is a popular destination in the community. Young children enjoy the play area and small play trolley, while families, couples and individuals can dine in leisure in the picnic area and take advantage of the shade pavilion, outdoor games, and greenspace. The plaza also has a state-of-the-art performance stage for theatrical acts, musical performances, and more.  Adjacent to the Plaza, the Burleson Visitors Center and Museum is the place to indulge in Burleson’s history and long-held sense of community. Visitors can learn about the city’s founding, development, and growth and view the restored #330 Cargo Car and the #411 Parlor rail cars and historical and sentimental items donated by area families and businesses. Hair-raising ghost tours of Old Town are also available, hosted on Friday and Saturday nights.
